Dame Beryl Grey is one of the towering figures of British ballet and dance. Having recently turned 90, she published her autobiography – a must read for any dance fans. From her debut as Odette/Odile (aged only 15), to her directorship of our company (then called London Festival Ballet) from 1968 to 1979, the book offers unique insight into her extraordinary career.
Dame Beryl Grey was the first British dancer to guest with the Bolshoi Ballet and the Kirov Ballet (in 1957 – 1958). Here is an archive clip of her performance at the Bolshoi.
